Slovenia, a country in Central Europe, sometimes is accepted and sometimes is not accepted as a real Balkan country. Whether you think it is or not, technically a part of it is located in the Balkans, making it the smallest and greenest country on the peninsula. Nature lovers, in particular, can indulge themselves here! There are mountains, lakes, waterfalls and even caves! You may have even heard of Lake Bohinj, Bled and Vintgar Gorge – some of the most beautiful spots on the continent and they are all located here.

Slovenia is bordered by Austria to the north, Italy to the west, Croatia to the south and east, and Hungary to the northeast. If you visit, make sure you check out the small stretch of coast on the Adriatic Sea – Piran is very nice – and the incredibly charming capital: Ljubljana.
