Bulgaria is located in the east of the Balkan Peninsula and borders Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and Turkey. Although it isn’t a top tourist destination in Eastern Europe, we highly recommend you visit in either summer or winter. Nature here offers a diversity of landscapes – one major highlight is the coastline along the Black Sea, perfect for a beach holiday. You will find impressive mountains, small hidden gems and beautiful cities. The capital Sofia has 1 million inhabitants and is by far the largest city in the country. Definitely worth checking out, along with some of its other, more quaint towns.
